Which piano book lessons do u recommend for a beginner, a child of 7?

Not seconding, but thirding: with a teacher, with a teacher, with a teacher.

Adding, if you are a teacher you should not teach your child. If you are not a teacher you should not teach your child.

With a teacher, at age six, I started out with the Bartok Mikrocosmos and the Schirmer collection called Beginner’s Bach, not long after adding Schumann: Kinderszcenen.

I personally find a lot of the other collections, John Thompson, etc, so generally filled with banal music I am astonished more children aren’t completely turned off to music at the beginning because of these books.

I recommend the PHONE BOOK – which you as the parent open, and call a QUALIFIED TEACHER. What ELSE would you risk the child with – an under-qualified math teacher? Doctor? OR – is it YOU that want to teach lessons – and has no clue?

This is best left to the professionals. Yes, older students and adults might be able to teach themselves – but that only works if they have PREVIOUS musical training or knowledge, and a g0-to person to check them – not quite a teacher, but an accomplished friend.

You can use Bastien’s Primer – Piano for the Young Beginner
Piano Adventures: Lesson Book Primer Level or
    Premier Piano Course

All of these have lesson book, techniques, theory, and etc…..

However, learning how to play the piano is not just learning to recognize notation. I have seen a lot of students who can play very difficult pieces yet without proper expressions, techniques, or interpretations. They mainly just play the notes out…

If you are seeking a full piano learning experience for your child, I don’t recommend doing it yourself. The little hands, fingers, wrists, and arms need to be properly trained. There are certain ways that a written instruction can never teach your child the right way, if there is no demonstration from a teacher….

If you are just trying to find a book for your child just for fun with a more music appreciation approach, then it is ok.

If you are seeking proper training or excellence, then please find your child a piano teacher

Mamianka is EXACTLY right of course…

Get a piano teacher, and use which method book she/he prescribes…

My favorite, however, is Faber’s piano adventures… I learned with that method and it is quite fun and instructive. Lots of different books to choose from to play. Great method series…
