I’m hopefully beginning violin lessons at school soon, probably in two to eight weeks time. I’m fifteen and can read music, fluently on the treble clef but not so well on the bass clef. I am a self taught piano player but am roughly grade two or three standard, and am just beginning guitar. I’m just wondering if there is anything I can do to prepare myself before hand? For example, looking at violin sheet music, practicing guitar for the fingering, anything like that?
Any help would be much appreciated.
many instruments don’t require practicing before starting but maybe one thing you can do is listen to a couple violin pieces and learn the string names.
so don’t worry so much, violin lessons are for learning to play so you don’t really have to prepare.

guitar fingering is nothing like violin.
if you have ever played a violin or viola you should know the fingering looks like this

because you can play trebble clef the violin music reading wont be a problem. Look at the sheet music and try to sing the notes
