I have a question about piano lessons?

I am 14 and I think I will be taking piano lessons as a Christmas present. I actually really want to learn to play the piano. Is it too late to begin learning? Should I have started when I was younger?
Also: We do not have room in our house for a piano, so when I come home from piano lessons downtown can I buy an electric keyboard to practice on?
Please answer both of these questions. Thank you. :)

It’s never too late to be learning a new instrument! I played flute, and was a trombone prodigy (honestly, there’s nothing to laying a trombone….really.) in grade seven and eight, which was a requirement for school. I’m just taking up piano again, and I’m 17, and I use a keyboard. I bought a keyboard, since my mom gave our piano to my grandma when I was little. Funny story actually….it bugged her that I practiced on it and it was so loud! Anyway, after two years of piano lessons, I had to quit because *yikes* our piano was gone….back to g-mas! Electric keyboards are great since you can store them in a closet or under a bed, and they don’t take up much room. You can also plug your ear buds into them, and you can practice without bugging anyone and you don”t have to be embarrassed playing in front of people! lol. There is no "set" age to start piano. I think older is better because you can truly appreciate the gift you are learning, so I don’t think I’d start formal lessons until my child was at least eight. Good luck with your lessons!
